Videos For Your IPod: Where Are They?

|
The biggest question when a person gets a new iPod, is "This plays video? Where do I get the video?". It's a good question that Apple does little to answer when you initially open the package, which can be a little disheartening at first. If you do a little research you'll probably be able to find a few things that are helpful. The first thing that you are going to discover is that you can download videos using iTunes. Yes, I know Apple seems to be obsessed with the letter 'I', but bear with me here. The iTunes application is a powerful downloader/media player that allows you to watch all sorts of videos and hear all sorts of music. The cool thing about iTunes is that you can actually buy and download movies. This means that if you purchase it you can send it to your iPod and watch it as many times as you want while you're on the go. The best part is that when you buy these movies you're really not paying full price. Since you aren't buying a case and a little booklet, you'll only pay around ten dollars for new movies. You can also pay $1.99 apiece for Pixar's animated shorts, which kids get a kick out of. The next place that you can get your movies is from Google video. Say you see something on there that you really like and you decide that you want it. If the uploader of the video deems it to be so, then you can click the “Download for PSP†icon. Yes, it says for PSP but guess what? The PSP and the iPod use the same file format, so you can use it just fine! Isn't it great? Just remember that because of Google's integration with YouTube, some videos may not be available for download directly from the site. Finally you can get the videos from yourself. If you so desire you can take the DVD's that you own and you can rip the files from them. So long as you own the DVD this is perfectly acceptable and you can watch your favorite movies no matter where you are. Just remember that in most coutnries it is against the law to send these files to anyone, or to seed them on a peer to peer network. We need to make sure that everyone actually pays for their movies simply because the actors need to be paid for their work. Keeping them paid starts with you, and keeping them paid gets us more movies. Apple has made a great device that does good job of allowing us to enjoy hours of music and video. No matter what you want to watch there's a chance that you can watch it on an iPod in some shape or form. So just sit back and let your iPod take care of the nightly entertainment, because with the technology on hand today, you're certainly not going to have to!
